What is your response when a passenger asks "is this the only job? or do you guys also do something else?" and other personal, intrusive questions?
Most questions I just answer. The one you mention isn't too intrusive for me and often sparks a conversation. I find that passengers are more likely to tip if you have friendly conversations with them and show a keen interest.
There are of course some questions I wouldn't answer, but they haven't been asked yet. 😄
I answer any question a passenger wants to know with a blunt fast answer in a friendly tone.
Most of the time, I just greet them and tell them to take care when the ride is over. Not many people want to talk.
I have gotten asked if I was single a number of times. I just say no, even though I am. I am not interested in being picked up while I am working. Some people have no boundaries.
I have had people ask me strange questions about my appearance, my car, my taste in music, and so on. I just try to be as polite as possible. Thankfully, most people just keep to themselves and don't want to talk.
I actually don't mind this particular question. People just aren't aware of how you can earn being an Uber driver. I don't think they mean it in an insulting way so I just answer and usually ask if they are interested in becoming a driver.
