I had a few complaints that had nothing to do with me personally or my car but had everything to do with not feeling safe because I was a man. This happened 4 times now where I had complaints in reviews and bad ratings because the people I picked up would have preferred me to be a woman. This ever happen for anyone else?
Only once with a man, he was not happy a woman was driving him.
I do wonder what people like this expect. Not all men are creeps, not all women are terrible drivers... It is 2020!! Can we act like we live in the year and not 1820?
Uber has conducted a study of internal pay differentials between men and women, which they describe as “gender blind.” Aired on a podcast by Freakonomics' Steve Dubner, the researchers (one woman, four men) took great pains to explore whether a pay gap between men and women exists (it does) and how to explain it. The study found a 7% pay gap in favor of men. They present their findings as proof that there are issues unrelated to gender that impact driver pay.
The associations between high-risk driving and substance use/environmental influences were generally stronger among women than among men. When matched by substance-use profiles, women had fewer risky-driving incidents than men.
Gender: Students were asked to rate their confidence in their own driving skills. Although female students on average were less confident than their male counterparts, men and women received almost the same average score from driving instructors.
I can't say I ever have had a complaint or issue with people not liking me driving them over my gender. It seems like such a trivial thing only a very close minded person would have an issue with.
